American Airlines Baggage Policy

Checked Baggage
  • You can check up to 10 bags if your trip is domestic, transatlantic, or transpacific.
  • Moreover, you can check up to 5 bags if you are traveling from, through, or to Mexico / Caribbean / Central America, South America, and Brazil.
  • For flights flying except to/from Australia or New Zealand, your checked bag allowance dimension would be 62 in, weight 23 kg.
  • For First or Business class, the weight of the luggage should be 70 lbs / 32 kgs for free bags and 50 lbs / 23 kgs for excess charged bags.
  • For all confirmed customers on flights to / from Australia or New Zealand the baggage dimension should be 62 in / 158 cm, weight around 70 lbs / 32kgs for free bags and 50 lbs / 23 kgs for excess charged bags.
  • Additionally, If you have AAdvantage® status or oneworld® status, you might be eligible to carry 3 free checked bags on itineraries operated by American Airlines.
Carry On Baggage
  • Passengers can carry one personal item with a dimension not exceeding 18 x 14 x 8 inches.
  • You can bring only one carry-on item along with your personal item. It should fit in the overhead bin or under the seat.
  • The total size of your carry-on, including the handles and wheels, cannot exceed 22 x 14 x 9 inches.
